Marshall ninth in US event
at the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls National Championships in Wilmington, Delaware yesterday.
Marshall carded her best round of the tournament, a three over par 75, to finish on 229, tied with Hawaiian Grace Park, Eunice Choy of California and Texan Jennifer Waterhouse.
The tournament was won in a record 217 by Elisha Allison of California, who beat Erica Hayashida of Peru by five shots. Former champion Kelly Booth was third on 223.
Marshall said: "I played pretty good, steady golf. It was a really tough hilly course.'' Marshall now heads for Indianapolis for the US Girls Amateur, which tees off on Monday.
Marshall, runner up last year, is up against 149 other girls who will be teeing it up in a 36-hole qualifier on Monday and Tuesday with the top 64 going into matchplay action.
"This will be my sixth tournament on this tour and I feel I'm playing pretty well,'' said Marshall. "There's a bit of pressure to do better than last year but hopefully it won't worry me too much,'' said Marshall.
KIM MARSHALL -- Ninth.
