Packwood on crash course for redemption
sidelines, a prominent field of riders is expected to participate in the sixth annual Heritage Classic race from Somerset to Hamilton on Monday.
With DeSilva deciding to take a break from racing for a while, heading the list of entries for the prestigious race will be top rider Sinclair Packwood, who was in first place last year until he crashed just before the finish line.
Other prominent riders expected are Darren Dowling who was second last year, Clark Tear who was third and the recent winner of the Grand Prix event.
Tear, a previous winner of the 13-mile Heritage race, is expected to be involved in a tight battle with Packwood and Mike Lee who was the rider involved in the crash with Packwood last year.
The anticipated stiff battle could see the overall winner beating DeSilva's time of 27:35 set in last year's race, which was seven seconds slower than Lee's winning time set two years ago.
In addition to Packwood, Tear, Dowling and Lee being among the strong challengers, also capable of being competitive until the very end are Damian Wilson and Vance Stevens.
There are 27 riders who have entered with most of these (14) being seniors. Up to last night only one female had entered and she is Lynne Devine who won easily last year.
The race will start at Main Road, Somerset, directly opposite the MarketPlace at 9 a.m.
