An historic Portuguese tall ship arrives in Hamilton today on a four-day visit.
The 295-foot Sagres (pictured above) is a training vessel for cadets from Portugal's naval academy. She was built in 1938 in Germany and used during the Second World War.
The Sagres was seriously damaged by a mine in the Baltic and later captured by the Americans.
In 1962, after 14 years with the Brazilian navy, she was sold to Portugal and re-named. She has visited the Island many times.
Her sister ships serve with the US Coast Guard ( Eagle ) and the Russian navy.
