Robin Hood and Devonshire Colts All-Stars were big winners on Saturday in the first round of the Commercial Division KO Cup, both scoring resounding

The latter totally dismantled St. George's All-Stars 7-1 to move into the next round with Jeff Richardson heading the charge with a hat-trick. Alvin Ball netted twice while Dennis Nesbitt and James Tweed each scored one apiece.

Charles Wade registered a consolation tally for the losers.

Meanwhile Robin Hood shellacked Coca-Cola 6-0 as division leading scorer Des Minors shook the rafters three times and was aided by Peter Slater (two) and Derek Stapley.

Another lopsided result had BAA Wanderers handcuffing hapless Prison Officers 4-0. Steve Irvine (two), Frank Brewster and Andy Powell were the marksmen.

In the day's tightest affair Lobster Pot beat North Village Rams 4-3 on penalties after regular and extra time had left the pair locked at 2-2.

Pot goalkeeper Richard Hudson became the hero when he saved Rams' last two kicks, keeping his side in the competition. Earlier Ralph (Gumbo) Bean of Rams and Simon Turner of Pot each had scored twice for their clubs.

Other squeakers had Forties downing Exiles 1-0 on a Brian Fubler strike and Island Rangers edging KPMG Peat Marwick 2-1. Brothers Mike and Keith Bremar both struck paydirt for the west-end team while Gary Knight replied for KPMG.

Fire Services similarly beat Spinning Wheel 2-1. Goals from Shawn Grant and Robert Dill offset one by Wheel's Allan Fray.

Devonshire Colts will hold a meeting on Thursday at Victor Scott School (5.30 p.m.) for the parents of their Mini-Minor, Minor and Bantam division players.

SNOOKER SNO Old Colony Club maintained a four-point lead in the First Division after a 4-1 win over Queens II.

Once again leading Colony's charge was Robert Gaglio, who made a 29-break in his match against Nick Mansell. Also winning for Colony were Phil Lambert (24-break), Brian Haxton and Terry Southern.

Glenn Flood picked up Queens' only point in beating Dave McLean.

Defending champions Nationals stayed in the hunt on account of a hard fought 4-1 triumph over St. George's.

Winners on the night were Mike Tatem, Paul Charleton, Tony DeSilva and Tyler Moniz of Nationals, while Timmy Hayward was the lone bright spot for St.

George's.

First Division player of the week Peter Bromby recorded a 30-break in his 70-44 dismantling of Warwick's J.R. Robinson and spurred Queens on to a narrow 3-2 decision. Bromby now stands a perfect 4-0 for the season.

Earning the honour in the Second Division was Renaldo Bean, who made breaks of 13 and 14 while playing against Stephen Roberts of Queens.

Meanwhile, Sandys Sports Club made short work of Spanish Point Boat Club, registering a 4-1 win and moving to third in the standings.

The only other match had Warwick I easing by OCC II 4-1.

ROAD RUNNING RUN The winner of the Timeless 10-K race at the Canadian Base in Somerset on Sunday was Trevor Gilchrist who came within three seconds of his predicted time, finishing the route in 48:12.

But overall first-to-finish honours went to Tracy Wright who came home in 33:45 while the top female finisher was Jennifer Fisher in 40:31.

CROSS-COUNTRY CC On Saturday, Kavin Smith and Tracy Wright continued their rivalry in cross-country racing in the Federal Express/Continental Airlines fourth race of the series.

Smith was an easy winner over Wright in the third race but things were much closer. Smith however emerged victorious once again when he won in 23:01.

Wright followed closely behind in 23:27 with Brett Forgesson third in 24:26 and Kevin Tucker fourth in 24:32.

The shorter women's course saw Anna Eatherley win in 17:56 with Jennifer Fisher second (18:23) and Jane Christie third (18:41).

The Secondary boys winner was Sharif Taylor (18:50) while first place in the girls' division was Tamika Williams (27:15).

Spencer Butterfield was the Primary boys winner in 11:06 and Suella Matthews the girls winner in 11:39.

NETBALL NET June Dill scored 29 goals and Dawnette Smith converted 22 as AICO, leaders of the First Division, defeated Hamilton Parish 51-19 in Saturday's play.

But second-placed PCC kept within two points of the leaders as a result of their 38-29 victory over Coca-Cola. Sheena Maybury spearheaded PCC with 21 goals while Rose Richardson had 17. Penny Moore led Coca-Cola with 15 goals while Carol Bean and Wenda Godfrey had seven apiece.

The other game saw Netts edge Olympic Panthers 27-24 with Carolyn Binns scoring 21 goals and Kim Minors seven.

CHESS CHS Eric Keen has built a commanding lead four rounds into the Mutual Risk Chess tournament.

Keen is unbeaten from four matches and leads both Bob Bagley and David Shanks by a point.

Tonight has Bagley and Keen facing off against each other while Shanks has the enviable task of meeting top seed Tony Simpson.

BASKETBALL BAS There will be a meeting of all teams interested in joining the Bermuda Basketball League's winter season. The meeting will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday at the Fidelity building. Each team is asked to send a representative.
