Second division round-up
yesterday after leaders Vasco edged by third placed Social Club at PHC.
Ricky Mallory netted twice for Vasco in the 10th and 33rd minutes to take his tally for the season to seven -- five in the last two games -- while Troy Saunders pulled one back for Social Club in the hour.
The win for Vasco, combined with Southampton's 4-2 win over Somerset Eagles, gives the top two teams some breathing space at the top. Rangers hold a three point lead over Social Club who are now joined on eight points by Prospect who beat Paget 1-0 on a Neil Topping goal in the first half.
Rangers player-coach Kenny Burt opened the scoring for his team at Southampton Oval after just two minutes and added the second in the 24th minute, a couple of minutes Eagles had equalised through Everett Wellman.
Dion Minors pulled Eagles level at 2-2 a minute into the second half before two late goals by Ascento Russell in the 75th and 83rd minutes gave Rangers their fifth win.
Yesterday's other two matches, including the opening contest at Southampton Oval between BAA and Port Royal, were postponed due to the field conditions caused by the heavy rain. The Devonshire Cougars-Wolves match at Devonshire Rec was also called off and has been rescheduled for tomorrow night at 7.00 at the Rec. No date was set for the BAA-Port Royal match.
