Shona back with a splash
the fourth race of the Summer Swim Series on Sunday.
Top triathlete Shona Palmer, coming back from a back injury, finished fourth overall to capture the women's division in the 1.5-mile ocean swim at Elbow Beach.
Only brothers David and Mike Cash and top junior Jonathan Herring finished ahead of her.
Dave Cash beat out 35 other swimmers in choppy conditions to complete three loops of the half-mile course in 36 minutes and two seconds -- just four seconds ahead of Mike.
"I think I squeezed out a lucky win over my brother,'' said Cash. "Normally he would put 30 seconds on me over this distance.'' The pair -- and Herring -- were without one of their top rivals, Ronald Cowan, who is currently travelling with the national squad. Herring finished in 36:40, followed by Palmer (36:50).
Alicia Mullan, who has dominated the female side of the series this year, is also travelling with the national squad.
The final two races of the series (July 13 and July 27) take place over longer distances but in sheltered areas.
