St.David's capture junior crown
Cleveland 77-8 St. David's completed the Junior Eastern Counties series as champions on Saturday at Lord's when Cleveland held out for a draw.
O.J.Pitcher was top bat in the St. David's total of 193 with 42 runs while opener Chris Foggo, voted the most consistent player of the series, scored 21 and tailender Jonathan Santucci 16 not out.
Dion Stovell was the most successful Cleveland bowler, claiming five for 53 from 18 overs with five maidens while Barry Gibbons claimed two for 20 and David Gibbons two for 33. Rain held up play for 34 minutes.
Cleveland lost a couple of early wickets and struggled on to 28-4 before David Gibbons (13) and Monroe Darrell (26) led the middle-order recovery. Todd Fox was the best bowler for St. David's with three for seven from six overs while captain Angelo Cannonier took two for six off four overs.
Man of the match award went to Pitcher while Stovell's five wicket haul earned him the bowler of the match award.
