The secondary school girls division produced the biggest surprise of Saturday morning's second junior cross-country meet of the season at Ferry Point Park
of the field.
But Turner, a recently arrived member of a US Base family, normally plays soccer on Saturday mornings and isn't expected to compete in all of the events.
Her time of 12 minutes 22 seconds over a course of about one and a half miles left her well ahead of second-placed Suella Matthews (14.03) with Heidi Madeiros (14.20) finishing third on her return to racing.
Collin Anderson, as expected, ran away with victory in the small secondary school boys' field, clocking 23.15, with Kris Hedges (26.29) taking second and Matthew Collins (29.53) third over a course of about 3.3 miles.
In the primary division, Emma Rego repeated her victory of a week earlier, clocking 8.01 over an approximate 1.1 mile course. Akila Mills (8.02) was just a second behind and Sarah Simons (9.00) placed third.
Among the primary boys, Kemar Curtis (7.00) edged the previous week's winner Richard Walcott (7.07) by seven seconds while Aswad Wilson (7.17) placed third.
The next junior meet is scheduled for October 29 at Spittal Pond (9.00 a.m.).
LADIES SOCCER SOC Bermudian Naquita Dill, a junior forward for the Messiah College women's soccer team in Pennsylvania, is making her mark. She scored the game-winning goal against Elizabethtown last Wednesday and netted again in a match on Saturday.
Dill has scored three times this season as the Falcons have won six and lost one of their seven games. In the Middle Atlantic Conference, the team has won four and lost one.
Dill, a graduate of Berkeley Institute, is the daughter of Calvin and Beverly Dill of Devonshire.
