Town fuming over Wade suspension
the Bermuda Football Association for his conduct during a Martonmere Cup match against PHC at Somerset in October.
Afterwards club executive George Brown, who was present at the hearing, hit out at the way the matter was handled by the disciplinary committee, chaired by Neville Tyrrell, and questioned why there was no ground for appeal.
"We're very displeased with the decision,'' said Brown. "They only met for 10 minutes and their minds seemed already set.'' Wade was charged with bringing the game into disrepute after alleging to have thrown punches at a spectator who had thrown beer on him after he slid behind the goal on the northern end.
Wade denied throwing the punches though referee Frank Drayton's report mentioned that Wade went off the field to attack a spectator.
"He just confronted the spectator,'' said Brown, who also pointed out that the player was never booked.
"We're trying to keep spectators in line but in this case they seem to justify what the spectator did,'' Brown added. "But he was only protecting himself.'' There is no ground for appeal for the ban, which also has angered the club.
But BFA administrative assistant Joe Brown explained that any suspension handed out by the disciplinary committee up to a three match ban doesn't allow for an appeal.
Joe Brown pointed out that the incident was never brought to the attention of the BFA by the club, nor was any complaint made to field operator that night, Clifford Roberts.
Wade scored the game's only goal that night that took Town into the semi-finals of the competition.
