series of track events to determine soccer's fastest player is still a good idea to pursue.

So much so that Benjamin, who came up with the BFA/BTFA Soccer Challenge, which was to have taken place tomorrow night at the National Stadium, is now planning to stage the event in March with a few new wrinkles that might include a junior category as well as extending it to netball players and teams.

"The interest is definitely there but the time for the clubs to get prepared seems to have left them a little bit adrift,'' said Benjamin, who first put the idea in motion about two weeks ago.

Benjamin had given the clubs until Monday to show interest in the event which he hopes to make into an annual meet.

"The response hasn't been what I would have liked to carry on with it, but what I would like to do is reschedule it for March, using the same format.'' Benjamin admitted he was encouraged by comments made to him. "I spoke to half a dozen First Division coaches and all of them thought it was a good idea. Had I been given the go ahead when I first brought up the idea I would have had enough time to get all the information they needed in place. Then they could have filled out the entry forms and done some preparatory work.''
