Island bowlers are invited to represent their favourite Cup Match team -- wearing blue for St. George's and red for Somerset -- by literally playing cricket on the lanes in a preview of next week's Classic.

Tonight's event will feature the same cheers and jeers of fans, calypso music and Cup Match commentator Randy Horton calling the shots.

Any number of bowlers may represent a side during the three innings -- or three games of bowling. The winner of each inning is determined by adding the scores of all bowlers on any one side and dividing the total by the number of bowlers to determine the average score for that side. The side with the highest average will be the winner of that inning and the side that wins at least two innings will be declared winners of the match.

Other common cricket terms apply. A duck, for instance, is a gutterball; clean bowled is leaving a 7-10 split; a six is three strikes in a row and a century is five strikes in a row.

Betty Lespere is the St.George's team captain; Hank Rawlins is the Somerset captain.
