World cup groups
place alongside cricket's elite at the sixth World Cup in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka in 1996.
Bermuda are down to a must-win situation on Saturday against the losers of tomorrow's second semifinal between United Arab Emirates and Holland. If successful in that third place playoff match, Bermuda will join the winners of the ICC Trophy and the four semifinalists from the 1991-92 World Cup in Group A.
They are defending champions Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand and England, while the other group will include past World Cup winners West Indies, Australia and India, along with Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and the team that finishes second in the ICC.
The next World Cup will be the biggest ever with 12 teams, in two groups of six, competing.
Each team will play at least five round robin matches before the top four from each group advance to the quarter-finals.
