Youth team shine in build-up to international tournament
IYT 195 St.David's 131 Bermuda's national youth team continued to show promise in their build-up to next month's international youth tournament, winning both of their First Division Overs matches on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday's victory was more impressive in that they defeated a strong St.
David's team by 64 runs at Lord's while on Saturday their task was easier against a seven-man Somerset Bridge team at the same venue, winning by 120 runs.
Quinton Sherlock led the IYT on Sunday with an innings of 41 while Dale Benjamin followed with 29. Kameron Fox took three for 30.
Rudell Pitcher was top scorer for St. David's with 39 while Travis Smith took three for 42.
IYT 206-9 Som. Bridge 86 On Saturday Chris Foggo was high man for the youth team with 57 while Travis Smith finished unbeaten on 37. A.Wilson took three for 36.
Wilson also led the Bridge in batting with 35. Kevin Tucker was the leading bowler for the youth side with impressive figures of four for 14.
Hamilton Parish 288-8 Social Club 153 Hamilton Parish crushed Social Club by 133 runs on Sunday at Nationals with skipper Dennis Trott slamming 80, Irving Burgess 58 and Shannon Burgess 40.
Terry Stovell took three for 41.
Harold Minors led Social Club's batting with 33 while Jaymo Durham followed with 21. Curtis Lee took three for 26.
St.David's 252-7 Somerset CC 176 St. David's beat Somerset by 76 runs at Somerset on Saturday, thanks to a fine knock of 69 by veteran Allan Richardson. Shea Pitcher made 49.
Sidney Simmons was top bowler for the West Enders with two for 27.
Shawn Roberts led the home side in batting with 29 while Reid Jones struck 27.
Kameron Fox took three for 19.
PHC 160 Flatts 143 PHC defeated Flatts by 17 runs at Southampton Oval with Alfred Carter scoring 40 and Lyle Millett taking three for 25.
Quinn Outerbridge continued his fine batting streak by scoring 35 for Flatts while Derek Wright led their bowling with four for 13 off seven overs, including three maidens.
Cleveland 215-5 Inverhaugh 94 Cleveland County won their cricket tour opener of Canada on Saturday, beating hosts Inverhaugh CC by five wickets.
Curtis Jackson was top scorer for Cleveland with 58 while Carlton Smith scored 53, Wayne Smith 34 and Jason Simons 23.
The local side needed just 26 overs to dismiss their opponents in the 40 overs game, Greg Talbot taking three for 20 off five overs and Jackson three for eight off 3.3 overs.
