Berkeleyites aim for All Star glory
Championship Tournament, Berkeley send a half-dozen players into action today for more glory.
Three players from both the girls and boys teams, plus coaches Alan Walker and Lou Matthews, will lead Berkeley in the annual BSSF All-Star Games at Mount Saint Agnes. Game times are 4 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
Berkeley upset league champions Whitney for the boys crown last Friday after beating Northlands for the girls title.
John Barry Nusum, Dennis Lottimore and Lorenzo Lottimore will suit up today for the Red team, which also consists of top players from Sandys, Northlands, Warwick Academy and Warwick Secondary. Darin Lewis of Warwick Secondary will serve as Matthews' assistant, bringing with him key player Marvin Babon.
Players from Whitney, Saltus, Mount Saint Agnes and St. George's form the Blue team, coached by Saltus' Tim Trott and assisted by Freddie Evans of Whitney.
Whitney stars Lloyd Peterkin and Javin Taylor, MSA's Kevin Mooney and Saltus' Joshua Nesbitt and Aaron Madeiros figure to lead the Blues.
Berkeley's Walker, meanwhile, will have Tashae Thompson, Karen Carlington and Charie Scraders join him on the girls' Red team. Nyon Steede of Whitney will assist Walker. Sandys, Warwick Academy and Warwick Secondary are the other Red schools.
Blues players are from St.George's, Northlands, Saltus and MSA. Northlands' Rachel Smith, helped out by Roderick Spencer of Saltus, are the coaches.
Candace Gaugain and Jamila Simons will represent league champions Northlands.
Bonnie Leibowitch joins Spencer from Saltus.
