Ingham lifts Invitation title

Jonathon Ingham captured his first Mid Ocean Club Men's Invitation title yesterday, but it took two extra holes to claim the trophy.

Ingham finally shrugged of the challenge of Scott Skidmore, a four-handicapper from Baltimore, on the 20th hole.

Skidmore started slowly but hung in there to the end and managed to win the 18th hole to send the match into extra holes.

Both players carded fours on the 19th as Ingham's birdie attempt just rolled by the hole and Skidmore made a comfortable par.

The second extra hole was full of suspense as both players held the upper hand at some point before Ingham sunk a ten-foot putt to win the championship.

In another final, Peter Sanders made it three Senior Championship titles in a row as he got past Alan Anthony 4 & 3.

The Super Seniors title went to Tom Stearns who defeated Canadian Michael Kluthe 3 & 2, John Rayner captured the Senior First flight and Keith Cooper won the Open Division First Flight.
