Orioles remained top of the Bermuda Ladies Hockey Association `A' League over the weekend despite being held to a 2-2 draw by third-placed Bluebirds.

In fact, the leaders had to battle back from a two goal deficit after Sarah Maltby fired Bluebirds into a first half lead, scoring following a pass from a quick free hit, and Gayle Armstrong added a second after the break.

Shuffling their line-up in the second-half, Orioles' persistence paid off as they grabbed a share of the points with late goals from Claudette Sherwood and Georgie Adlam.

The other `A' League match also ended all square with Canaries and Cardinals drawing 0-0.

In the `B' League, new team Swallows maintained their grip on first place with a 1-0 victory over Swifts, Krista Ward scoring her first goal of the season following a sideline hit from Liz Osborne.

Canaries posted the biggest win of the weekend, defeating Cardinals 3-0, with all three goals coming late in the match.

Sam Miller netted from a short corner, then provided the pass for Kerry Quigley to make it 2-0 before Susie White completed the win.

The other `B' game saw Bluebirds edge out Orioles 1-0.
