Walker's warning to Blazers' title rivals

Boulevard's Takehyi Walker believes a victory over in-form North Village would serve as a major boost to Blazers' title credentials.

Blazers will be looking make it three wins on the trot when they visit Rams tomorrow knowing a win could catapult them to the top of the table.

Ominously for Village, Walker reckons Blazers are beginning to find their stride after making a slow start to the campaign.

"It's very important for us to take three points this weekend having took three important ones last weekend (against Somerset Eagles) against the leaders at that time," said Walker.

"These points can open up a little bit of a gap for us in the standings having shrugged off the early defeat to Town.

"It's good to play the likes of Town, Eagles and now Village in our opening fixtures as we can now look towards a few teams that aren't quite of that calibre and get points from them to leave us in good stead.

"Hopefully it will be a breeze through but we still aren't taking any side for granted at the moment.

"We have PHC and Cougars to play and the rest are a little easier, but then again in the top flight no game is easy and we can't rest on our laurels at the moment."

Blazers will have to cope without livewire striker Angelo Simmons who is having trials at National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) Baltimore Blast.

But Bermuda under-23 international, Walker, is confident they still have the firepower to shoot down Village, even without the free scoring Simmons.

"We won't have Angelo Simmons who will be a big miss with his presence and ability to win games, but we do have the young players to fill that void left for the moment and will look to go and win the match," he said.

He added: "We have serious ambitions of winning the league and anything else is a bonus. Winning other trophies and so forth is good but we will rest players for the bigger picture which is the league and to defending our FA Cup.

"I think we are starting to find ourselves slowly, at the beginning of the season we seemed to be a bit flat but have come into our own as the weeks go by."

League leaders PHC will look to put a gap between themselves and those behind them when they travel to Police Field to take on winless Devonshire Colts.

PHC have surprised many with their play considering the summer season losses they suffered, but it hasn't seemed to slow down the side who are looking more like the team they were when the lifted the 2008 champions.

Southampton Rangers will host champions Cougars at Southampton Oval with both sides coming off morale boosting wins last weekend over Colts and Town respectively.

Rangers had a disheartening start to the season after going up in both their opening matched before falling 2-1 in both before taking advantage of Colts.

Cougars meanwhile go into their game on the back of back-to-back league and cup wins over Dandy Town.

Tomorrow's other match will see Dandy Town take on Hamilton Parish at St. John's Field with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats.

Parish got hammered last week against Village 8-1 while Town have lost three losses in a row.

All games start at 3 p.m..
