League leaders Data Tech remain unbeaten

Netts Whites, Nu -Art Superstarz and Signworx had plenty to cheer about at Bernard Park at the weekend.And for good reason after each team clinched the title in their respective divisions in the Harold (Doc) Dowling Tournament that was abandoned the week before due to inclement weather.Netts Whites claimed bragging rights in the Under 14 Division after edging past Young Men’s Social Club Baby Bluebirds 5-3 in an evenly fought final.Nu-Art Superstarz won the Under 14 title after beating Young Men’s Social Club Young’uns 6-2 while Signworx thumped Lady Rams 12-0 to claim the Under 16 title in emphatic fashion.Elsewhere at Bernard Park, defending Senior Winter League leaders Data Tech Netts kept their unblemished record intact after handing Signworx Netts a 32-18 defeat. Denise Rawlins led Data Tech Netts’ charge with 20 points while Arkeita Fubler chipped in with 12 points.Jaylene Hinds scored 10 points in a losing cause for Signworx Netts who slumped to their first league loss of the season.Data Tech Netts are unbeaten after three rounds and lead nearest rivals Young Men’s Social Club Lady Bluebirds on goal difference.Second placed Lady Bluebirds also protected their unbeaten record after getting past winless North Village Lady Rams 51-35 in a high-scoring affair. Danielle Raynor topped Lady Bluebirds’ scoring with a game-high 40 points while Nikita Trott led Lady Rams’ scoring with 20 points.Keeping pace with the lead pack was Smooth and Easy Tigers who took a bite out of Young Men’s Social Club Blazing Bluebirds. Smooth and Easy Tigers handed Blazing Bluebirds a 42-25 defeat with JahTuere Trott leading the way with 19 points. Fredericka Samuels replied with 16 points for Blazing Bluebirds who currently lie seventh in the 10 team standings.The remaining match saw DC Warriors get by winless North Village Lady Rams II 34-27. Stacey O’Brien scored 28 points for DC Warriors while Drewshae Bascome led Lady Rams’ scoring with 23 points.The match featuring Warwick Pink Panthers, the only other unbeaten team in the league, and New Life did not get underway because of failing light and will be played at a later date.
