Netts crowned knockout champions
Netts Whites savoured the sweet taste of success after being crowned Under-12 knockout champions at Bernard Park at the weekend.
The unstoppable Whites were the last team standing in the double elimination tournament after inflicting a second loss over NVCC Lady Rams in the tenth and final match.
Making Whites’ achievement all the more special was the fact they went through the entire six-team tournament unbeaten.
They walloped Devonshire Colts 13-1 in their opening match but had a much tougher time against YMSC Baby Bluebirds before eventually prevailing 5-2.
Netts Whites then underlined their superiority with back-to-back wins (10-1 and 8-2) against Lady Rams that swept them to the title.
Elsewhere in weekend action at Bernard Park, Smooth and Easy Tigers edged NVCC Lady Rams 20-19 in a Senior Winter League nailbiter that went right down to the wire.
The only other Senior Winter League fixture played saw Warwick Pink Panthers get by lowly Devonshire Colts 32-15.
Remaining Senior Winter League matches were rained out.
