Newcomers Hood denied by Teachers

Bermuda Netball Association’s (BNA) 2013 Summer League officially got underway at Bernard Park on Tuesday evening.League newcomers Robin Hood put up a good fight but were ultimately taught a lesson by Teachers who came away with a 29-20 victory to get their campaign off to a winning start.Breakers also recorded a comfortable win after getting past PHC 27-18.In the closest battle of the evening Colossal edged HSBC 19-14 in a contest that could’ve gone either way.Family won by default over BMA while Police had a bye.Summer League action continues this evening with BMA taking on HSBC, Police will face Breakers, Robin Hood have been pitted against PHC while Family will do battle with Teachers. Colossal have a bye.Action commences at 6pm.Commenting on the new season, BNA president Tracey Sharrieff said: “We are off to a great season with nine teams registering. Robin Hood have entered to help further develop their game and will not be playing for points.”Sharrieff added that teams will “automatically be awarded a win” when they play against Robin Hood.Earlier this year Robin Hood capped a superb inaugural season in the Senior Winter League ranks by clinching the Second Division championship and with it promotion to the top tier next season.
