Pai, Callow retain badminton titles

Rohan Pai and Emma Callow retained their respective men’s and ladies’ singles titles in the annual Victor Flood badminton tournament which concluded over the weekend at the BAA gym.

In a close final, Pai beat Michael Palmer 21-17, 21-18 while Callow got past visiting Austrian Nicole Birtsch 21-15, 21-17.

The top four men’s seeds cruised into the semi- finals where Pai prevailed over Mark Haugen 24-22, 21-15. Second seed Michael Palmer overcame veteran Rick Dorush, a former champion, 21-11,21-13.

Boys Under-18 doubles: Jordan DeShields and Adam Smith defeated Dominic Hill and Shaun DeCouto

Men’s singles B: Joseph Lam defeated Robert Xia.

Women’s singles B: Michele Turner defeated Olivia Oniya

Men’s doubles B: Robert Xia and Joseph Lam defeated Adrian and John Turner

Men’s doubles A: Rohan Pai and Michael Palmer defeated Rick Dorush and Mark Haugan.

Women’s doubles A: Nicole Bertsch and Solreiga Cailliere defeated Emma Callow and Dianne Blais.

Mixed doubles B: Denzel Simons and Rowena Cespedes defeated Lee Harrison and Michele Turner

Mixed doubles A: Rick Dorush and Dianne Blais defeated Michael Palmer and Emma Callow.
