Roberts grabs bronze in shooting

Bermuda continued their medal haul in shooting as Ross Roberts missed out on silver by one point to claim bronze in the 50 metres Prone Smallbore Rifle Men’s division at the NatWest Island Games.Sitting in second with the final round remaining, Roberts shot a 96 to leave him with 578 points, with Isle of Wight’s Dominic Cowen shooting a 98, good enough to get him 579 points and the silver medal.The winner was Andrew Chapman of Jersey who finished with 584 points, five points clear to give him the gold.Fellow Bermudian Carl Reid shot a final round 95 to get himself into fourth place on 574 points, four points behind his compatriot.David Dumont, Bermuda’s only representative in the 25 metre Centre Fire event, currently holds down second place with 282 points, with Louis Phillip Baglietto of Gibraltar leading with 548 pointsNicola Holmes won gold for Jersey in the 10 metre Air Pistol with a total of 358 points, while Rebecca Margetts (349) from Guernsey and Gotland’s Eva Widing (349) got silver and bronze respectively.Margetts (536) and Nikki Trebert (523) grabbed gold for Guernsey in the 10 metre Air Pistol team event with 1,059 points, with Gibraltar’s Heloise Manasco (227) and Louise Gabrielle Perez (316) claiming silver with a total of 543 points.Johnny Jonasson (556) and Robin Leksather (565) of Gotland won the 10 metre Air Rifle team event.
