Dill misses the cut in Poland

Tough competition: Dill, right, finished 29th out of 70 women at the Bowling World Cup in Poland. Bean placed 70th out of 82 men

Bermuda’s June Dill narrowly missed the first cut of the top 24 players at the recent Bowling World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland.

Dill, who was making her fifth appearance at the World Cup, averaged 194.35 for 20 games and had a tournament high game of 248 at the Sky Bowling Centre, where the tournament was held.

She finished in 29th position out of 70 women. Britney Hamilton, of the United States, was the qualifying leader with a 224.20 average.

Bermuda’s Renelda Bean competed in the men’s competition, struggling to adapt to the lane conditions and averaged 179.55 to finish 70th out of 82 male competitors.

Tobias Bording, of Germany, averaged a record 241.7 for 20 games to lead the qualifying.

Chris Barnes, the US professional bowler, won the men’s title, with Clara Guerreno claiming the women’s crown.
