The adage “trebles for show, doubles for dough” proved true in the Bermuda Darts Association Christmas Turkey Shoot Singles Tournament at BAA as Simon “Stubby” Carruthers beat Steve Hickmott 4-1 in the final.

The final got off to a flying start with both players hitting big hundreds and 140 scores, but it was Carruthers that got the better of the finishing doubles and took a 3-0 advantage. Hickmott came back with a big fourth leg, but it was Carruthers that sealed the title with a double-16 checkout.

The first semi-final saw Marlon Almonte get on the scoreboard first and secure the first leg. Carruthers came back to take the next two legs, however Alomonte kept his cool and levelled the match at 2-2. Carruthers then held his throw with a double top, to secure a 3-2 victory.

Hickmott took the opening two legs of the second semi-final. However, Richard Phillips responded and took the next leg. Hickmott then applied the pressure and won the next leg and moved into the final with a 3-1 win.

Carruthers won $100, a 20lb turkey and 24 ranking points, while Hickmott came away with $60, a 15lb turkey and 21 ranking points. For the highest finish, Enio Vieira won $50 and a 10lb Christmas ham.
