BOA to hold careers’ workshop

Bermuda Olympic Association president Judy Simons

The Bermuda Olympic Association on behalf of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee will host a free Athletes’ Career Programme Workshop for Bermudian athletes aged 15 to 30 on Saturday at Saltus Grammar School.

The programme is designed to help elite athletes manage the transition from sport to a new career through professional development and job placement support.

The Bermuda Workshop will provide attendees with information that will help them pursue career and educational opportunities that complement their athletic experience, and will feature modules on résumé development, networking, time management, and interviewing skills.

Judy Simons, the BOA president, said: “We are pleased to be working with the Athletes’ Commission outreach programme to bring this valuable seminar to Bermuda’s athletes.

“We have many young athletes who commit much time and energy to training and competition in their sport, and are often not thinking proactively about future career opportunities.

“This workshop will help them identify and evaluate those opportunities and learn how to leverage their sports skills to seize them.

“It’s just one of the many ways the BOA is working to assist our island’s young people on their journeys to success through sport.”

The workshop runs from 8.30am to 5pm.
