Upon his appointment to the role of Public Works Minister, former Premier Craig Cannonier gave the following remarks this afternoon at Government House.

“Mr. Premier, thank you for your faith in me and for your support. Beyond my duties as a Member of Parliament, my experience over the past ten months has been one of personal reflection and time spent with my family, appreciating what is important in life.

“There is clearly no perfect script in one’s life — but there is always a redeeming path nearby, and I am thankful for the opportunity to walk it in the service of the people.

“Since taking up the challenge of elected office, it has always been my aim to help this country succeed for the people of this country. We are a great island and a great people, who deserve a government that can help us fulfil our great potential.

“I am proud to be part of a Government that is working incredibly hard to make this happen, to bringing forward a recovery that enables people to meet their basic needs and bring their dreams within reach. As Minister for Public Works, I will work with the workers to make sure we do all we can to push this country forward — doing our part to make it work and help it succeed.

“That is my pledge. I will not let you down. Once again, thank you Premier for your faith, for your support and for the opportunity.”
