PLP helps families with hamper drive

Showing she cares: Progressive Labour Party member Marie Richards at the charity hamper drive

The Progressive Labour Party supported more than 100 needy families through its hamper drive in Pembroke East.

Constituency 15 MP Walter Roban said in a press release: “Our goal was to assist approximately 25 needy families, seniors and disabled persons in our community.

“With community support, we were able to surpass our goal four times over, and provide the extra goods collected to others in the community, including the First Church of God, Pembroke, and First Baptist Church, Devonshire.

“It was rewarding to hear from those who benefited, showed love, and expressed gratitude for what was provided to them during a time when many struggle to afford the essentials.”

Mr Roban said the Family Affair event afterwards was also a huge success and a hit with the children.

“Our donors who contributed decorations, food and party favours for the children made it a memorable day for all those who attended,” he stated.

The PLP paid thanks to Four Star Pizza and Pizza House, local churches Heard AME Chapel, North Shore Gospel Chapel, and the Grace Methodist Church, as well as volunteers who donated towards, organised and packed the hampers, and Sherri Simmons, for promoting the event.
