Live updates from the House of Assembly

Join us live for ongoing coverage of the House of Assembly today, where legislators today are to get details on the end of Covid-19 emergency powers as announced on Monday by Kim Wilson, the health minister.

Ms Wilson said yesterday Covid-19 restrictions would be dismantled over the next two months, with Cabinet still discussing the fate of the unpopular Travel Authorisation procedure.

Today’s meeting of MPs will bring together two challengers for the leadership of the Progressive Labour Party, with David Burt, the Premier, and Deputy Premier Walter Roban.

Curtis Dickinson, the former finance minister, is to pitch for party leader at next month’s PLP delegates conference, while Renée Ming is gunning for the deputy role.

Mr Burt is to give an update on the status of Bermuda’s economy today, according to economy and labour minister Jason Hayward.

Ernest Peets, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, will table legislation updating the island’s parish councils.
