National Seniors Strategy forums scheduled for next week

Thoughts on issues affecting the island’s ageing population can be shared by residents next week.

The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors will make this opportunity available during two community forums on February 7.

The ministry said the events would help shape a three-year National Seniors Strategy, aimed at developing and facilitating ageing well for all.

It added: “Forum participants will share their views on many topics, including healthcare, social services, housing and community engagement.

“Participants will be encouraged to highlight examples of positive ageing and successful initiatives, propose innovative solutions and identify areas of concern.”

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, explained: “I believe that the best solutions emerge when we bring together the collective wisdom of our community.

“The National Seniors Strategy community forum is an opportunity for everyone to share their views and shape the future of senior care and support in Bermuda.”

Light refreshments will be served at the two 90-minute forums, which will both take place on the National Sports Centre pavilion.

The first session will run from 11am to 12.30pm and the second from 5pm to 6.30pm.

• Participants must RSVP by calling 735-6420 or e-mailing ads@gov.bm. Anyone 65 years and older will be eligible to receive a prize at the end of the sessions.

You must be Registered or to post comment or to vote.
