MPs are slated to debate nine Bills today in the House of Assembly, ranging from finance to proceeds of crime legislation.

The Trustee Amendment Bill 2026 will update the 1975 legislation on beneficial ownership, to “streamline record-keeping requirements” and to add supervision in certain cases.

The Charities Amendment (No. 2) Act 2026 will expand anti-money laundering and antiterrorist financing regulations for the third sector cover “broader financial crime” and update oversight, while the Beneficial Ownership Amendment Act 2026 will bring the island’s regime into closer accord with Financial Action Task Force requirements.

The Registration (Births and Deaths) Amendment Act 2026 will tighten rules on obtaining a copy of a birth certificate.

The Proceeds of Crime Amendment Act and the Pace (Miscellaneous) Act will deal with improving asset recovery and management, and providing a mechanism for victim compensation, as well as refining the powers of investigatory agencies.

The Payroll Tax Rates Amendment Act 2026 will raise the tax rate applicable for an employer with an annual payroll of less than $200,000 from 0.5 per cent to 1 per cent.

The Police (International Co-operation) Amendment Act 2026 will enable the Bermuda Police Service to work more closely with law enforcement abroad.

The Financial Intelligence Agency Amendment Act 2026 will strengthen the regulation and powers of the agency.
