BFIS to co-host insurance M&A panel

The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) will co-host a panel next week Thursday, July 17, along with American law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP (DBR) on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) developments in the insurance industry.

Expert panellists from Drinker Biddle will include Bob Juelke, co-head of the firm’s Insurance Transactional and Regulatory team and chair of DBR’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group; Joe Seiler, a partner in the firm’s New York office and Dan Krane, a partner in the Philadelphia office.

The panel will be introduced by Gail Martin, BFIS vice-president, and moderated by Tom Dawson, partner and co-head of DBR’s Insurance Transactional and Regulatory team.

The presentation will be held at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute at 5pm and will be followed by a cocktail reception. Topics on the agenda for the panel include deal trends, key provisions in deal documents and the effect of recent regulatory developments on M&A transactions.

DBR chairman Alfred Putnam said: “Together with so many of our clients and friends we are proud to help BFIS support young Bermudians interested in our industry both by providing internship opportunities and with monetary contributions.

“This is our third year of organising a panel discussion that we again hope is topical and informative.”

In addition to chairing DBR’s Corporate & Securities Practice, Mr Juelke is known for his expertise in acquisitions and divestitures, securities offerings and the general representation of public reporting companies and private growth companies.

Mr Juelke has notably worked as lead counsel on several recent high profile insurance M&A transactions.
