A Bermuda-based insurer has appointed a new senior vice-president.

Northstar Financial Services has signed up Stephen Duff to join its sales team.

Edward Horner, Northstar chief marketing officer for Northstar, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Stephen to the team.

“His impressive track record of driving sales of offshore investment products, as well as his extensive network of contacts among the international financial adviser community, will be of tremendous benefit to the firm as we continue to develop our global distribution channels.”

Mr Duff has nearly 30 years of experience in the life/annuity and reinsurance industries, with particular experience of offshore clients.

The University of Arizona graduate has been director of North America and Far East sales for Bermuda-based Old Mutual before co-founding the P2 Group, which was later acquired by Sanlam.

Northstar, founded in 1998 as Nationwide Financial Services, and offers investment services to wealthy international clients.

It offers variable and fixed rate investment plans in a Bermuda trust structure and the firm’s products are sold worldwide through banks, securities dealers and other financial intermediaries, although they are not available to US citizens or Bermuda residents.
