Aspen Reinsurance has appointed Christian Dunleavy as head of global property catastrophe. He takes over the role from Stefan Long, who earlier this year was promoted to head of Aspen Re in London.

Mr Dunleavy joined the company today. He previously worked at Axis Reinsurance where he was a senior vice-president, responsible for US property treaty, Caribbean property and workers’ compensation catastrophe business.

Stephen Postlewhite, chief executive officer at Aspen Re, said: “Christian brings a wealth of experience to the role.

“He has been underwriting property cat business for over eleven years and is a highly respected leader in this field.

“His appointment shows the continued growing strength of Aspen’s reinsurance business and we are delighted to welcome him to our management team.”

Mr Dunleavy will be based in Bermuda, reporting to Tom Meyer, chief underwriting officer at Aspen Bermuda Limited.

Prior to joining Axis in 2002, Mr Dunleavy was a senior analyst at RenaissanceRe, responsible for multi-peril modelling, pricing and portfolio analysis.
