A new reinsurance firm has won a top award from an industry magazine in the US.

Hamilton Re, part of the Hamilton Insurance Group founded by veteran Brian Duperreault, has been awarded Bermuda Reinsurer of the Year by Reactions magazine.

Hamilton Re CEO Kathleen Reardon collected the award at a special ceremony in the heart of New York’s financial centre Wall Street.

She said: “It’s an honour to have the hard work of our talented team at Hamilton Re recognised.

“We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished in just 18 months of doing business as a member of the Hamilton Insurance Group.”

Ms Reardon was accompanied to the ceremony at restaurant and conference room complex Cipriani’s Wall Street, by Hamilton Insurance Group chief strategy officer Bob Deutsch, Hamilton Re chief underwriting officer for casualty and specialty Claude Lefebvre and Hamilton USA executive vice-president for business development Barbara Bufkin.
