Hamilton backs America’s Cup youth training

Hamilton Insurance Group has announced it is an official partner of Endeavour, the America’s Cup youth training programme.

Funds donated by Hamilton will be used by the America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA), organisers of the Endeavour initiative, to purchase two Toyota HiAce vans to be used to transport students between the programme’s two bases in Bermuda — on in St George’s and the other at the Royal Naval Dockyard.

“Hamilton was founded with a focus on using technology to transform how business is done,” said Kathleen Reardon, Hamilton Re’s chief executive officer.

“Through our charitable giving, we look for initiatives that hone our young people’s skills in this regard. They’re our future workforce and will need these skills to be competitive in the digital age we’re living in. Endeavour, with its grounding in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learning, is a natural fit with Hamilton, and we look forward to our partnership with its organisers and the students involved in this exciting and innovative programme.”

Bermuda-based Hamilton is the holding company for insurance and reinsurance operations in Bermuda, the US and at Lloyd’s.

The company joins sponsors Butterfield, Orbis and PricewaterhouseCoopers in supporting the Endeavour programme, which provides sailing experiences for local students aged nine to 12 years old.

The experiential learning programme leverages sailing and the America’s Cup to expose students to STEM studies. The Endeavour curriculum includes a broad range of modules from health and nutrition to the math and physics behind sailing and yacht design.
