Everest Re Group has appointed a new chief administration officer.

Bill Thygeson will be responsible for several aspects of the firm’s operational platform with a focus on technology and its impact on business processes for underwriting and claims, as well as take over some administrative functions.

Jonathan Zaffino, president of Everest Re Group, said: “As we continue to expand our insurance operations, in both size and complexity, we need to ensure that our operational infrastructure keeps pace with the trajectory of our underwriting portfolio.”

Mr Thygeson, a 20-year veteran of the business world and an ex-US Air Force intelligence officer, is a former chief operating officer for Hamilton Insurance Group, where he oversaw the creation of the company’s US insurance platform and had responsibility for a range of operational and administrative functions.

Mr Zaffino said: “Bill’s background is uniquely qualified to lead our operational transformation initiatives focused on building best in class support capabilities for our growing business.”

Bermuda-based Everest Re Group is the holding company for a variety of global subsidiaries providing insurance and reinsurance.
