Organisers of the ILS Bermuda Convergence 2016 have named Vincent Dowling as one of the event’s two keynote speakers.

Mr Dowling is well-known in the insurance and reinsurance sector.

He is widely sought after for his valuable insight and industry expertise, according to event organisers ILS (Bermuda) Ltd who are expecting delegates to flock to listen to his market perspective.

Greg Wojciechowski, ILS Bermuda chairman, said: “We are very excited to host Mr Dowling as our industry keynote speaker.

“His research and work in the industry spans over 30 years and he is known for his ability to see things from both a macro point of view as well as the detailed fundamentals of our industry.”

Mr Dowling cofounded Dowling & Partners in 1990 and currently serves as managing partner. He began his career with AJB Zunser and Co in 1982 as a junior insurance stock analyst, then joined Fox-Pitt Kelton Ltd in 1983 and was admitted to the FPK partnership in 1986.

More than 300 delegates are expected to attend this year’s ILS event. Last year delegates came from 13 countries.

Bermuda is the leading jurisdiction for insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond issuance. The Bermuda Monetary Authority reported, as of the first quarter of this year, net issuance of bonds increased the total stock of outstanding capacity to $26.5 billion, an increase of 13 per cent year over year.

The Bermuda Stock Exchange accounts for approximately 75 per cent of the global market capitalisation. Current data from the BSX reported 159 securities listed with an aggregate market capitalisation of approximately $19 billion.
