PwC summit to examine future of insurance
Speakers including the chief executive officers of Hamilton Insurance, Arch Capital, Aspen Insurance and Argo Group will feature in the PwC Insurance Summit.
The event, which will take place on November 1 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, is presented by professional-services firm PwC and the Financial Times.
The two keynote speakers will be Eric Andersen, co-president, Aon plc, and Michael Butt, chairman of Axis Capital Holdings. They will focus on the topic: “A Perfect Storm — Where Challenging Market Forces, Structural Changes and Disruptive Technologies Collide”, as well as considerations for the future of the industry.
In addition, David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, will take the stage for a conversation with Robert Armstrong, chief editorial writer of the Financial Times.
Conference organisers have stressed the inclusion of eight leading women from the global insurance industry among the panellists at the conference.
These include Pina Albo, CEO of Hamilton Insurance Group, who will take part in the CEO dialogue panel with Marc Grandisson, CEO of Arch Capital, Chris O'Kane, group CEO of Aspen Insurance, and Mark Watson, CEO of Argo Group.
Other women executives speaking at the PwC Insurance Summit include:
Jean Vernor, head of incubator, New Strategic Markets, Munich Re, US; Cory Anger, managing director and global head ILS origination and structuring, GC Securities; Judith Klugman, global co-head of ILS, Swiss Re Capital Markets; Laura Taylor, managing principal and chief financial officer of Nephila Capital;
Annette Kurtzweil, chief risk officer, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions North America;
Judy Gonsalves, executive vice-president and chief underwriting officer, Chubb Bermuda, as well as Susan Joseph, North America representative, B3i.
Ms Albo said: “As one of the newer members of the Bermuda market, I'm looking forward to discussing the rapidly changing landscape, how we're all adapting to the demands of a digital world, and what the insurer of the future looks like.”
Ms Joseph's fellow panellists in a panel focusing on the potential of blockchain for the industry will be Waynes Caines, the national security minister, and Andre McGregor partner and global head of security for TLDR Capital, who is a former FBI cyber special agent.
