Hendrickson promoted at Axa XL

AXA XL today announced that Shellé Hendrickson has been appointed as head of healthcare in its Bermuda insurance business.

Ms Hendrickson succeeds Vivienne Moniz who was recently promoted to head of excess casualty, Bermuda.

In her new role, Ms Hendrickson, who reports to Ms Moniz, will be responsible for developing, implementing and driving strategies of the healthcare underwriting unit.

Ms Hendrickson has 13 years of experience in the insurance industry, specialising in casualty, life science and healthcare underwriting. She joined XL Insurance (Bermuda) Ltd, now XL Bermuda Ltd, in 2013 as assistant vice-president and has taken on progressively senior roles including most recently as vice-president, excess casualty underwriter.

Earlier this year, she was selected to participate in the company's Global Emerging Leaders Programme and Future Focus Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Patrick Tannock, XL Bermuda Ltd chief executive officer, insurance, said: “This promotion underscores the breadth and depth of talent we have at AXA XL.

“The Bermuda market and our industry in general works to provide solutions to the most complex existing risks while striving to stay ahead of emerging and future risks. Attracting, developing and promoting the best local talent are critical to our efforts.”

Ms Moniz said: “We are fortunate to have Shellé lead our healthcare team. She has consistently been a key contributor to the success of our Bermuda platform. She is highly regarded by brokers, clients and colleagues for her underwriting acumen and commitment to professional excellence. She is a true ambassador for AXA XL and the Bermuda market.”

In addition to her responsibilities within the company, Ms Hendrickson is a board member of the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies and a member of the Bermuda Society of Healthcare Risk. She is a graduate of the Berkeley Institute. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bryant University, Smithfield, Rhode Island and a CPCU designation.
