BMS Re appoints Shruti Sem

BMS Re, the independent reinsurance broker, has appointed Shruti Sem as executive vice-president in the origination team at BMS Re, effective immediately.

Based in Philadelphia, Ms Sem will report to Jeff Irvan, chief property officer of BMS Re in the US.

The company said Ms Sem has more than 20 years’ experience both at reinsurance and primary insurance companies.

She joins BMS Re from Guy Carpenter, formerly JLT Re, where she held an array of senior roles including senior vice-president in the reinsurance broking division.

Ms Sem began her career in the industry as an actuarial analyst at XL Insurance in 2002 before joining JLT Re in 2006.

Mr Irvan said: “We are excited to have Shruti join the team. She has incredibly strong analytical and marketing skills that will be crucial in helping us navigate through the significant opportunities presented by the US market.

“We anticipate her contributing to our already rapid growth, as well as our continual drive to sharpen our skill sets and capabilities.”

Ms Sem added: “I am thrilled to be joining the BMS Re team. They are a group of highly skilled specialists who have an impressive reputation in the industry. BMS Re has seen significant growth over the past few years and I am looking forward to coming on board at this exciting stage.”

BMS Re is part of the BMS Group, the independent specialist re/insurance broker with an office in Bermuda.
