Veteran insurance executive Peter Bell has been promoted to the position of senior vice-president, chief executive officer and managing director of Bermuda at Everest Re Group Ltd.

Mr Bell’s appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

The Bermudian-based re/insurer also appointed Ari Moskowitz to the position of senior vice-president, chief operations officer.

They will both report to Jim Williamson, Everest Re Group chief operating officer and head of reinsurance.

The company said Mr Bell joined Everest in 2003 and has more than 30 years of experience in both insurance and reinsurance roles.

Most recently, he served as deputy managing director of Bermuda.

In his newly expanded role, the company said Mr Bell will oversee all of operations for Bermuda.

Everest said Mr Moskowitz has 14 years of industry experience and joined Everest in 2019 as deputy chief pricing actuary for the Reinsurance Division.

In his newly created role, the company said Mr Moskowitz will continue to oversee reinsurance actuarial pricing and will assume responsibility for claims. He will have responsibility for driving operational excellence across the division and leading critical strategic initiatives.

Mr Williamson said: “I’m delighted to have two talented reinsurance executives taking on expanded roles at Everest. Both Ari and Peter have proven track records of excellence, and I look forward to their continued leadership and critical contributions to our business.”
