Chubb Bermuda will serve as lead sponsor of Bermuda’s delegation to the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s annual conference in the San Francisco Bay Area from April 11-14, the Bermuda Business Development Agency has announced.

RISKWORLD is the annual conference of Rims, the world’s largest community dedicated to the advancement of risk management.

Being held in San Francisco from April 10-13, the event usually brings together more than 10,000 attendees from over 70 countries, 400 exhibitors from across the globe and more than 300 speakers.

“Chubb Bermuda is pleased to support Bermuda's first delegation to Rims’ main annual conference since 2019 and serve as title sponsor for the Bermuda reception,” said Judy Gonsalves, vice-president, Chubb Group and division president, Chubb Bermuda.

“Throughout my more than three decades of insurance experience, Bermuda has always had a strong presence at this event, now called RISKWORLD, and I look forward to reconnecting with delegates in San Francisco.”

In addition to the Bermuda house located in the main RISKWORLD marketplace, the BDA said, the Bermuda reception is a key opportunity to network with prospective Bermuda market entrants.

The reception will be held at “620 Jones”, on 620 Jones Street, San Francisco, from 5.30pm until 8pm PDT on April 12.

Stephen Weinstein, BDA chairman, said: “The BDA is extremely grateful for the support of Chubb Bermuda, a leader in our market for decades, as we renew our in-person engagement with Rims and the US West Coast.

“We also wish to thank our partner, the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, for their support.”

Mr Weinstein said he is “excited to participate as part of Bermuda’s delegation”, which he said will be led by David Burt, the Premier.

The delegation will also include Jason Hayward, the economy and labour minister; John Huff, the president and CEO of Abir; and George Alayon, assistant director, supervision (insurance) at the Bermuda Monetary Authority, along with several senior members of the BDA team and local industry leaders.

Mr Weinstein added: “We look forward to connecting with familiar and new faces in person to discuss why Bermuda continues to be the world’s most innovative and responsive re/insurance market, and the ideal platform for innovation in technology, climate finance and risk management.”

After two years of virtual events, the BDA said, it is delighted to bring a taste of Bermuda to the heart of San Francisco at the island’s long-established Bermuda reception in partnership with Chubb Bermuda.

Goslings will be in attendance to provide Bermuda cocktails, while Gianluca Gibbons — a Bermudian living in California — will perform.

The delegation will combine attendance at Rims with additional business development meetings in Silicon Valley, focusing on technology, climate-risk finance and venture capital.
