Oceanview Re names Dragan president and CBD officer

Oceanview Reinsurance Ltd., a Bermuda Class E insurance company, has appointed Stelian Dragan president and chief business development officer.

Based in Hamilton, Bermuda, he will be responsible for directing the business development activities of Oceanview Re, which provides customised reinsurance solutions for fixed annuities and other asset-intensive life insurance liabilities.

“Stelian is an ideal complement to the Oceanview Re team,” said Andrew Kanelos, executive chairman and chief governance officer of Oceanview Re.

“We look forward to leveraging his extensive industry experience as a business development executive and unique combination of operating and transaction experience.

“The knowledge and relationships Stelian has gained over the course of his career will be hugely beneficial to the company as we continue to provide unmatched reinsurance solutions to our clients.”

Mr Dragan has more than 18 years of experience in the life and annuity industry, acting in various client-dedicated roles across reinsurance, capital markets and equity research.

He was one of the early employees of Athene Life Re, where he led marketing and business development efforts, including securing landmark mandates that generated multibillion-dollar reinsurance premiums.

Before ALRe, Mr Dragan served as the chief operating officer at Tiriac Holding, a European family office with more than €1.5 billion in assets under management across insurance, banking, leasing, real estate and private aviation.

He has also held client coverage positions at Bear Stearns as part of the Strategic Finance Group and at Deutsche Bank in Debt Capital Markets and Equity Research.
