New BMS hire Germán Torres-Ortíz to focus on Caribbean

Germán Torres-Ortíz: appointed managing director and head of Caribbean facultative business for BMS Re Latin America and Caribbean

BMS Group, the independent specialist re/insurance broker with an operation in Bermuda, has appointed Germán Torres-Ortíz managing director and head of Caribbean facultative business for BMS Re Latin America and Caribbean.

The appointment is effective August 29.

Mr Torres-Ortíz will be based in Miami, reporting to Aidan Pope, CEO and executive chairman for LAC at BMS Re.

He will focus on expanding BMS Re’s facultative presence in the Caribbean region.

Mr Torres-Ortíz joins BMS Re from his most recent role as a senior vice-president at Carpenter Marsh Fac Re Latin America.

He said: “This is an excellent time to be joining BMS Re, who are demonstrating significant growth globally.

“The team is extraordinarily entrepreneurial, taking consistent efforts to identify and capitalise on the many and varied opportunities that lie within the region.

“I welcome the opportunity to maximise the BMS Re’s capabilities as an independent specialist reinsurance broker, and to working as a team to achieve our collective goals.”
