Sompo International, the Bermudian-based global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, has appointed Stefano Chiurlo as head of Accident & Health Europe.

He will be based in Milan, Italy.

Patrick Corbett, executive vice president, global head of Accident & Health at Sompo International Insurance, said: “Stefano is a fantastic addition to the Sompo International team and his appointment is the latest development in the building out of our A&H capability beyond a traditional London wholesale offering into the UK, Europe and around the world.

“He will have responsibility for developing and overseeing the implementation of our A&H underwriting and distribution strategy, bringing our years of expertise in A&H and significant capacity to clients across Europe.

“His wealth of experience in his field, knowledge of the European and global markets and commercial mindset will be instrumental in driving our ambitious growth strategy.”

Mr Chiurlo joins Sompo International with more than 15 years of insurance experience. He most recently served as group head of health & accident for the Generali Group.
