Bermudian-based Ariel Re has joined the local chapter of the Insurance Supper Club, an organisation supporting the retention and development of women in the insurance industry.

ISC was set up in the United Kingdom in 2008 in response to the low representation of women in senior roles within the insurance industry. It now has six branches and more than 4,000 members globally.

Its activities include lunch-and-learn events hosted by senior women insurance executives, mentoring programmes, soft skills workshops, round tables and private dinners.

Ariel Re is already a member of the UK chapter of ISC, and the activities are now open to all female members of the Ariel Re team in Bermuda.

“At Ariel Re, we want to continue to build a culture of inclusion, development and empowerment,” Ariel Re head of human resources Lindsay Hyland said.

“We value all members of our team. However, we also recognise that attracting, promoting and retaining women within leadership roles in the insurance industry is challenging. We feel that working with the ISC is a good step in improving this for the individuals involved, our business, our industry, and the communities in which we work.”

An ISC spokesperson said they were excited to expand their reach to Bermuda: “Ariel Re is already a member of the UK Branch of ISC Group but now the activities are open to all women in the Ariel Re team in Bermuda too.”
