Ryan Barker to join Hiscox Re and ILS as CTO

Hiscox Re & ILS, the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities arm of Bermudian-headquartered specialist global insurer Hiscox, has appointed Ryan Barker as chief technology officer.

The company said Mr Barker would join on October 2 and be responsible for driving all aspects of the business’s technology strategy.

Based in London, he will become a member of the Hiscox Re & ILS leadership team and will report to Kathleen Reardon, CEO of Hiscox Re & ILS.

Mr Barker joins from the Reinsurance Group of America, where as head of information technology for EMEA he has delivered significant technology change programmes over several years, the company said.

He has nearly 20 years of information technology experience.

Ms Reardon said: “Technology is foundational for our business success and therefore it is a key priority for us. I am thrilled to have Ryan join Hiscox Re & ILS, where his extensive experience in technology leadership will enhance our existing technology team.”

Mr Barker added: “I am excited to be joining the technology team at Hiscox Re & ILS and am looking forward to working with the organisation as they deliver on the business’s vision of being one team, unlocking capital, embracing risk.”
