Sompo International adds to commercial p&c business unit

Sompo International, the Bermudian-based global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, has made two appointments for its commercial p&c insurance business unit in Britain.

Jon Pope has been appointed head of middle market insurance, London region, and Toby Harris has been named head of technology, middle market insurance.

They will report into Joe Brown, middle market and small business underwriting leader, UK.

Mr Brown said: “As Sompo International continues advancing its global footprint and capabilities in the commercial p&c (re)insurance market, we are extending our insurance offerings to mid-sized business across the UK.

“I am pleased to welcome Jon and Toby to the middle market team, and I look forward to working with them as we deepen relationships with our broker partners and clients to provide solutions that align with their needs.”

Mr Pope joins Sompo International from RSA, where he was most recently lead casualty trading underwriter in its London office. Before this, he held senior underwriting roles at Hiscox and RSA.

Mr Harris joins from Travelers, where he served as technology practice leader for Europe. He has also held senior underwriting positions with Chubb, Ace European Group and AIG.
