Richard Sammons joins Gallagher Re this month

A top broker based in Bermuda will assume a senior specialty leadership position at a global reinsurance broker, leading a specialty aerospace unit.

Gallagher Re said that Richard Sammons was joining in January 2024 as head of Aerospace for its UK business.

Mr Sammons is a highly respected figure within specialty reinsurance, with 25 years of broking and underwriting experience, most recently as head of Specialty for Hamilton Re in Bermuda, where he has worked for the past 10 years.

Mark Hudson, who previously held this role, is staying with Gallagher Re and moving into the role of chairman of Aerospace and will be assisting Mr Sammons with the management of the team while focusing on driving growth and supporting clients.

Ian Kerton, UK chief executive of Gallagher Re, said: “We are delighted that Richard has agreed to join us as we continue to build out the strength and depth of talent that we have in the UK business.

“With more than 25 years of industry experience, Richard brings outstanding leadership skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the aerospace industry that will enable him to further build on our existing success.”
