John Berger is named chairman of Coaction Specialty

Bermuda market veteran John Berger has joined New Jersey-based Coaction Specialty Insurance Group, a privately held specialty insurance company, as chairman of the board.

Mr Berger is the former chief executive of Ascot Re and was also the founding chairman and chief executive of Third Point Re.

Previously, he was the chief executive of reinsurance and vice-chairman of the board for Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd (previously known as Max Capital Group Ltd) and also served as chairman of Alterra Reinsurance Ltd (previously known as Harbor Point Re Ltd).

The company said: “Berger’s leadership and business acumen, supported by decades of executive experience, are expected to bolster Coaction’s board further. He will support Coaction’s management team in evaluating its strategic direction and achieving its objectives.”

Mr Berger replaces previous chairman Stan Galanski, who had held the position since August 2021.
